John Delaney last night confirmed he is stepping down from the board of the Olympic Council of Ireland.
The FAI Chief Executive, who hails from Tipperary Town, informed acting president Willie O'Brien that he will be resigning as vice-president with immediate effect.
In a statement Delaney said his work with the FAI was his 'primary role and priority', and will remain 100% committed to his obligations and duties to ensure the growth and development of football in Ireland.
He also stressed that he had no role or involvement in the OCI's handling of ticketing arrangements for the Rio Olympics.
Delaney has been involved with the OCI since 2005 and had been tipped to replace Pat Hickey as president.
