Cummins and Heffernan honoured at Canon Hayes Sports Awards.

Tipp goalkeeping legend Brendan Cummins and Race Walking World Champion Rob Heffernan were among those honoured at the annual Canon Hayes Sports Awards last evening.

Cummins received the Mick Doyle Golden Memory Award for his inter-county career which spanned over 20 years.

Cork's Rob Heffernan took the Outstanding Achievement Award for his Gold Medal winning performance in the 50k Walk at the World Championships in Moscow.

The County Award went to Loughmore Castleiney for their historic double, the Local Award was presented James Walsh, Paul Breen and Chris Higgins of St. Michael's AFC while Clare senior hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald took the National award.

And well done to Tom O'Ceallaig of Clonmel Commercials on winning the Volunteer in Sport Award.
