County Board debate 21 yard free

The Tipperary County Board Meeting took place in the Sarsfields Centre (Semple Stadium) in Thurles last night, where a range of issues were discussed.

A whole host of sub-committees were ratified, while a Congress Motions Review also took place, where a motion to ban the new approach to the 21 yard free- as popularised by Cork goalkeeper Anthony Nash- was the cause of much debate among the delegates.

Two presentations were also delivered by the Games Development Committee and the Player Welfare Committee.

Delegates at Croke Park will vote at Congress this weekend on a motion that would make it an offence to “advance the ball deliberately from the place at which a free puck, penalty puck or sideline puck is to be struck from”

County Secretary Tim Floyd is of the view that there is a safety issue around the 'Anthony Nash free'.
