The stage was won by Matthias Brändle of IAM Cycling while Rafael Valls from the Lampre-Merida squad secured overall victory.
Brandle was part of a four man breakaway which went clear in the opening kilometres of the 133 kilometre stage.

The bunch sprint for 16 seconds later saw 24 year old Bennett take 10th in the stage at the end of the 6 day race.
