Leinster say an “administrative oversight” was the reason behind two of their players returning to Ireland from South Africa.

Isa Nacewa and Jamison Gibson-Park were yesterday denied entry to the country for the side’s upcoming Guinness PRO14 ties.

Head of rugby operations Guy Easterby says a visa was not applied for by Leinster on behalf of the two players, and were only made aware of the issue upon landing in Johannesburg.

All New Zealand nationals have required a visa to enter South Africa since January.

Easterby has admitted that “a valuable lesson has been learnt” as a result of the debacle.
