Cyclist challenges bus driver on new laws

Share:

Our listeners Donal and Anthony O’Gorman thrash it out about new laws which are on the way which will make it an offence for drivers to pass cyclists too closely on the road.

Under the proposed legislation motorists will be obliged by law to pass cyclists no closer than 1.50 metres on roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h or higher. Those who breach this face fines and penalty points.

Donal is a professional bus and truck driver and he thinks it will actually make the roads more dangerous. Anthony is a cyclist and knows first hand what it’s like having trucks whizz past him dangerously close at break neck speeds.
