Health authorities in Rio de Janeiro have launched an awareness campaign about the Zika virus, ahead of the city's annual carnival celebrations which begin on Friday.
The mosquito responsible for spreading the virus across Latin America has been linked to birth defects in babies.

Volunteers have been handing out T-shirts and flyers that read “Shoo Zika” on beaches in Rio.
