A major new study saw 11 to 15 year olds across 40 different countries – including Ireland – being assessed over a 16 year period.
Overall, the results suggest that contemporary adolescents are in a better position than past generations.

However, young people are now under more pressure from schoolwork and there's been no reduction in bullying.
The study – which involved NUI Galway – also found a significant rise in Ireland in the number of children from less affluent families having more health complaints.
