Workshops to show potential of Lough Derg Blueway

The economic spin-off the Blueway for local communities along the lake is set to be highlighted.

A series of workshops aimed at local tourist providers are being held in North Tipp next week to help businesses maximise their return from the waterway’s potential.

The Lough Derg Blueway is a multi- activity recreational trail offering a range of activities, both on and alongside the water. The aim is to make it possible for local people and visitors alike with little or no experience of the lake to take part in water sports in a safe and accessible environment.

It also links the visitors with tourist providers along the trails – such as restaurants, hotels, guest houses as well as museums, heritage sites and other arts and craft outlets.

As part of its development a series of workshops are being organised for this sector to help them indentify and maximise the potential of the Lough Derg Blueway.

The workshops take place in Ballina/Killaloe, Nenagh Portumna and Mountshannon in East Clare next Monday and Tuesday night.
