WHO calls for greater efforts to combat Zika virus

In a new report the WHO said 39 countries – mainly in Latin America and the South Pacific – have now reported cases of the virus.

The disease, which is spread by mosquitoes and sexual contact, is linked to a rise in birth defects in affected countries.

Brazil is launching three days of 'action against Zika' today.

More than 200-thousand troops will hand out leaflets to educate people on how best to protect themselves against the disease.
