Dan Delaney of Carrowclough, Tipperary Town is in court on manslaughter charges in relation to the death.

21 year old Delaney told Gardai he punched Edward O'Donnell on the head after the deceased had threatened to have him killed and burn his house down over a compact disc in May of 2009.

The court heard from the assistant state pathologist Margaret Bolster yesterday – she said Edward O'Donnell died from a haemorrhage consistent with a blow to the head or neck.

She agreed with the defence counsel that quite a minor blow could have such devastating consequences.

The trial is continuing today.
