Tipperary is set to be battered by one of the strongest storms in living memory this week.
A Status Orange warning has been issued for the entire country from 2 o’clock on Friday morning until 5 that evening.
The advisory has been upgraded to RED for counties Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
Met Éireann says Storm Éowyn will bring winds of up to 130 kilometres per hour
There have already been comparisons with Storm Ophelia from 2017.
However on Tipp Today Cathal Nolan from Ireland’s Weather Channel predicted it to be even worse than that.
“This storm is expected to be one of the strongest in living memory. It will be stronger than Storm Ophelia and it’s going to bring widespread significant disruption right across the country.
“The peak of the winds anywhere between about 3am/4am right the way through then until about noon may 1 or 2pm depending on how quick it passes through. But during that period we will be subjected to phenomenally strong winds – up above 130 to 150 kilometres per hour so very, very damaging winds.”
