Water charge situation unclear for householders who run a business in their home

A number of Tipperary County Councillors have hit out at the confusion surrounding water charges for people who operate a business from their home.

Neither Tipperary County Council officials nor Irish Water appear to know what way charges will be divided between domestic and commercial water usage.

A lengthy debate on the issue took place at this weeks meeting of the Cashel – Tipperary Municipal District.

Independent Councillor and Tipperary Town publican Denis Leahy the situation is not acceptable.

Fianna Fail representative Roger Kennedy claimed that farmers, publicans and guesthouse owners who lived on the property would in fact be facing a double charge for their household water consumption.
