The alarm was raised at 9.37pm about a 28 foot motor cruiser which had suffered engine failure north of Dromaan Harbour near the Clare shoreline.

The lifeboat crew reached the stricken vessel by 9.48 and found the two adults and a child on board were safe and unharmed and wearing their lifejackets.

Given the cruiser’s location, adrift and without lights it posed a direct risk to navigation. The lifeboat assisted the vessel to the safety of Dromaan Harbour

Launching Authority at Lough Derg RNLI Tom Hayes is advising boat users to ensure that engines are serviced and to check that you have sufficient fuel for your journey.
