Warnings that hospitals won’t cope with flu epidemic

A warning of a possible flu epidemic over the coming months could put pressure on bed space at South Tipp General.

Calls have been made to the HSE to utilise the available bed capacity at both Our Ladys and Saint Patricks Hospitals in Cashel.

In response, the HSE say a winter plan will be in place to support discharges to Saint Patrick’s from South Tipperary General Hospital.

With a shortage of beds at South Tipp General, Cashel Cllr Tom Wood says it’s important all resources are exhausted.
