Warning for Tipperary shoppers

Tipperary Gardaí are warning shoppers to be extra vigilant about their handbags when out and about.

There have been a number of incidents in recent weeks where shoppers have hung their bags on their shopping trolley and when they step away to pick something up, their bag has been either stolen or rifled through and their wallets stolen.

Gardaí are investigating the thefts and say that those responsible are opportunists.

They're warning shoppers to be more aware and always carry their bags on their shoulders or in their hands and not to leave them unattended.

If anyone has any information on the thefts, they can contact their local garda station.
