It's thought up to 80 thousand cars in Ireland are affected by the crisis – across VW – Audi – Skoda and Seat brands – although its not known how many imported vehicles may also have the software installed.
The Society of the Irish Motor Industry will also address the Committee.

The Committee wants to find out why it happened and how Volkswagen intends to remedy the situation.
