The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation say the number of people waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country now stands at 401.
The figure is up 30 on yesterday – but down 200 on the 601 people awaiting admission on Tuesday, which the INMO says was a record.
There are 7 patients waiting in South Tipperary General in Clonmel while the figure in the region's other A and E, University Hospital Limerick stands at 37.
Meanwhile, the HSE has put a complete ban on visiting in University Hospital Waterford due to an outbreak of the Winter Vomiting Bug.
Visiting to all wards at the facility is prohibited apart from critical care patients, parents of children and exceptional circumstances.
The ban will remain in place until at least Monday lunchtime.
