The Transport Minister says he believes planned work stoppages at Aer Lingus and the DAA will not go ahead.
SIPTU members at the airline and the three busiest airports say they will strike between 5am and 9am on the Friday of St. Patrick's weekend and are meeting this morning to discuss the planned action.
Yesterday the government appointed a panel to look at the pensions deficit at the heart of the dispute.
Leo Varadkar says he expects the strike to be called-off, but contingency plans are in place in case it goes ahead.
“We'll do our best to manage it, it's a four hour stoppage so we'll do our best, if it does happen, to reschedule flights, to ask the region airports to take some diversions if that's possible – a few different things like that” he said.
“But a four hour stoppage will cause more then four hours of disruption – it could be six to eight hours before things are back to normal” he added.
