Two women killed in Louth crash

The crash happened at around 6.30pm yesterday evening near Ardee.

It's understood two women aged in their 60's were struck by a car as they crossed the N2 Dublin to Derry Road at Hunterstown.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, the driver of the car was uninjured.

The bodies of the women have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post mortem examination is expected to take place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnesses to the accident to contact them.
