Two brothers remain in police custody in New Orleans this morning over the shooting of a Tipperary man in the city.
Brian Hanrahan from Killenaule was seriously injured in the attack, which happened last week.
The 30 year old was shot in the lower back and leg while out socialising in the Seventh Ward last Tuesday.
The Limerick-based garda reportedly met a man who told him of a place where they could get a drink.
They went to an ATM machine where Mr Hanrahan withdrew cash.
He was then approached by a different man who asked him for money – and when he refused, the person shot him.
Last night, officers from the New Orleans Police Department arrested two brothers – Melvin and Keith Galle – in relation to the attack.
Garda Hanrahan is recovering in hospital in New Orleans, where local police and the Irish community have raised funds for his travel and medical expenses.
