Fifth and sixth class students at Scoil Mhuire, Borrisokane, won the Go Green Award for their JEP business, Borris Bombs which are sustainable seed bombs.
Sixth Class at Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan Nenagh, received the Genius Product Award for their JEP business, Drippy Dawgs.
The young Nenagh creators decided on making elevated dog bowl holders carved from wood and fitted with two dog bowls.
6th Class teacher Maire de Loinge explains how her students learned from the experience:
In terms of profits, the children made over €1000, so that allowed them then to go on an extra school tour. That was, I suppose, the incentive from the start that they would make enough money to get a day out. The process of junior entrepreneur has been amazing for the children, there was something there for everybody. There was math involved, there was marketing, there’s language involved, Gaeilge and English, and it was just a great opportunity for the children to explore a new skill.
