Trump defends Trump Jr’s e-mail release

The US president’s defended his son over emails released by Donald Trump Junior about a meeting with a Russian lawyer.

The messages claim he was offered damaging, sensitive information about Hillary Clinton last year.

The White House says the president is “frustrated” that alleged links with Russia continue to be an issue.

Deputy Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders read a brief statement from Mr Trump which said his son ‘is a high quality person’ and he applauded his transparency.
