Trump defends firing ‘showboat’ Comey

The US President has labelled fired FBI director James Comey a “showboat” and a “grandstander”.

The president’s been defending his sacking of the FBI’s director amid a bureau investigation into allegations of election meddling by Moscow.

Donald Trump’s insisting there’s been no collusion between him, his election campaign, and the Russians.

And he told Lester Holt on NBC News he planned to sack Mr Comey regardless of recommendations by the Attorney General’s office.

Mr Trump maintains the FBI’s been “in turmoil” since last year.
