Michael Ryan began his council career in Nenagh in 1970 and after a brief spell in New Ross he returned to the Premier in 1977 where he took up the position of Thurles Town Clerk- a job he held for over 3 decades.

Overseeing his last Municipal District meeting this week local representatives praised his dedication and commitment to the town with one describing him as the “Alex Ferguson” of council managers.
