The sale of electric vehicles in Tipperary plummeted in 2024

According to the end of year figures from the Society of the Irish Motor just 216 EVs were registered for the first time last year – a drop of almost 43% on 2023.

This is significantly worse than the fall off in EV sales nationally which were down almost 24%.

Overall new car registrations in Tipperary fell by less than 1% in 2024 compared to the previous year with 2,901 T registrations allocated.

Diesel was the most popular power plant in Tipp accounting for 34% of sales followed by petrol at 27%, hybrid petrol was next with 23% while full EV cars amounted to less than 7.5%.
