Plans to extend Local Link bus service in Tipp

There are plans for an extended rural bus service across 15 counties, including Tipperary, to tackle isolation fears – in the face of the Transport Minister’s new drink driving legislation.

The Sunday Independent reports that the Local Link service – which is being proposed by Fine Gael – would extend the operating hours of 38 rural routes.

Shane Ross’s crackdown on drink driving has raised concerns in rural communities who currently have limited connectivity and services.

The proposed one year pilot is costed at around a million euro and will mainly cover additional late night services between 11pm and midnight.
