The number of people using the Clonmel Town Bus Service continues to grow.
More than 22,500 passengers availed of the service in September.
It is being run by Local Link Tipperary and covers three different routes in the town
Local Councillor Siobhán Ambrose says it has been a great success since its launch last December.
“If you look at the figures broken down month on month you have 1,000 new passengers using this service. They’re phenomenal figures and we’re really delighted that there’s been such a take-up on the service. The routes are good but we’re aware its only Phase 1 – we want to look at other phases around the town.”
Councillor Ambrose says they are already pressing to roll out the next phase of the bus service.
“We are onto the Department constantly looking for additional routes to be added and more phases to be rolled out. But certainly the figures month on month showing that there’s roughly 1,000 additional users that’s obviously going to help us as we continue to engage with the Department with respect to additional routes on the Clonmel bus service.”
