Councillor Bobby Fitzgerald says he has received a number of calls from people who are awoken by trains hooting while passing through Carrick.

He says it begins with the first train at 7.10am each morning.

Councillor Fitzgerald says it represents noise pollution and is calling on Iarnroid Eireann to reprimand its drivers, whom he describes as childish.

He has also accused them of animal cruelty, saying the actions are also affecting domestic pets.
