The Cottage Nursing Home in Irishtown was found to have met most standards but was moderately non compliant in a number of areas.
However the major of those have since been addressed.
The announced inspection of the nursing home in Irishtown took place over 2 days in February with 24 residents on the premises.
Overall, inspectors found that residents' medical and nursing needs were met to a good standard, looked well and cared for, engaged readily with inspectors and provided positive feedback on the staff, care and services provided.
HIQUA also found evidence of good practice in a range of areas and that both the person in charge and the workers all interacted with residents in a warm, respectful and friendly manner and demonstrated knowlege of their needs, likes and dislikes.
The home was fully compliant under 11 of the 18 headlings looked at – but there were some issues in relation the layout of some of the premises, documentation including policies and restraint, infectiion prevetion, medicaton managment and care planning.
Most of these issues were subsequently addressed by managment while its currently in the process of a revamp of the entire building with some work already completed.
