Tipperary’s first unified budget has been passed.

County councillors met for up to 8 hours at the Civic Offices in Nenagh to discuss the €138 million estimates for the forthcoming year.

Despite inital fears of a tense affair it was adopted by councillors with just Workers and Unemployed Action Group representative Pat English rejecting it.

Sinn Fein representatives voted against a motion on councillor expenses along with Councillor English.

Tipperary County Council CEO Joe McGrath insisted it was very fair and measured.

He said the authority had managed to retain all of the services despite income difficulties and other constraints.
