Tipperary’s Councillors support bid to claw back brighter evenings in the wintertime.

Currently Ireland and the UK don't observe Greenwich Mean Time during the months of daylight saving while most of our EU counterparts are on Central European Time (CET).

The possibility of changing this has been raised at national level and now Tipperary County Council has passed a motion to support it.

It was put forward by Councillor Richie Molloy who believes the benefits could be wide ranging in particularly in relation to road fatalities and also allowing people to go walking after work.

The Independent representative would like to see it trialled for a three year period.
