A new Cathaoirleach will be elected when the 40 local representatives from the five municipal districts across the county gather in Nenagh for their Annual General Meeting.

If the pact system is agreed then a Fianna Fail Councillor will be voted in to replace Fine Gael's Michael Fitzgerald, however some have already branded this as a dinosaur way of electing a chair and want change.

Councillor Fitzgerald was the first Cathaoirleach to oversee a joint Tipp County Council and says it's been a real learning curve.
