Tipperary teacher defends ASTI strike decision.

ASTI members have opted to extend the industrial action that's been sparked by plans to reform the Junior Cert.

They're blaming a lack of training in advance of the changes, and they're also objecting to the idea of marking their own students' state exams.

Fintan O'Mahony – who is a teacher in Scoil Mhuire, in Carrick-on-Suir – claims it's not fair.

He says knowing them as well as you do after three years of junior cycle, you're not going to be able to separate what you know about them from what they do in an exam.
