The owner of St Joseph's College in Borrisoleigh has stood by his decision not to allow a pregnant teenager to attend the school.

Padraig O'Shea has also refused to apologise to the girl and says he would do the same again.

According to the Irish Independent Mr. O'Shea says there “must be standards of morality in every school and that is the wish of 99 per cent of parents”.

The Children's Ombudsman has previously ruled that the school had discriminated against the 16-year-old.

Emily Logan reported that the teenager applied to St Joseph's when she was pregnant, and again after she had given birth but was refused entry on both occasions.
