Tipperary performs well in Tidy Town competition.

Tipperary picked up three Gold Medals in this years Tidy Towns competition.

While Moynalty in County Meath won the overall award, Birdhill, Emly and Clonmel performed well for the Premier County.

Birdhill, with 313 points, gained the highest marks in North Tipperary while Emly performed best in South Tipp on 312.

Rearcross picked up an Endeavour Award for the most improved centre in North Tipp, climbing 16.7% on last year which was the biggest improvement in the country.

Ballingarry was the most improved in South Tipp with a 5.7%.

Two people involved with efforts in the county were honoured with Tidy Town Heroes awards – Denis Floyd in Birdhill and P.J Starr in Terryglass.

The efforts of the tidy towns group in Ballingarry in South Tipp earned them a €500 Endeavour Award.
