Thurles born Mary Hanafin says two of the 14 people to be housed on the site on the Rockville Drive were children orphaned in Saturday’s blaze – she says the right thing to do is to open the site to the families.

Discussions are continuing to end the impasse – the residents said they have been subjected to unfair criticism for their actions. They say they've expressed their sympathies to the families of the 5 adults and 5 children who died in the fire.

This is the third day of talks between Rockville Drive residents and the Council since the impasse began on Tuesday.

The families of the victims are still living in hotels, B&Bs and other accommodation – they’re hoping the bodies of their loved ones can be released quickly so they can begin making funeral arrangements.
