Tipperary mother confident of reinstatement of mobility allowance

A young Tipperary mother who's son Alex needs 24/7 care is hopeful that a revised Mobility Allowance will be in place in a matter of months.

Maggie Butler from Glengoole met with Minister Finian McGrath in Leinster House yesterday.

She pressed home to the Minister – who has responsibility for Disability Issues – the situation she and many other carers face without the allowance.

It was discontinued in 2013 – however those who qualified prior to this are still in receipt of the payment.

Maggie says Minister McGrath is in the process of bringing legislation before the Dáil.
