Tipperary man pleads guilty to rape and sexual abuse of young relatives

A County Tipperary man will be sentenced next week for the rape and sexual abuse of three children.

66 year old Seamus O'Neill of Ballynamona, Newcastle pleaded guilty to rape, indecent assault and sexual assault over a 35 year period from 1965 to 2000.

All of the victims were members of his extended family – all three waived their right to anonymity so that O'Neill could be named.

Mr Justice Paul Carney adjourned sentencing until next Monday.
