The 22 year old and his Dublin girlfriend had a lucky escape as they changed plans to go on a trek on Mount Everest.

Authorities and relief crews fear the death toll from the quake could rise above 10,000.

So far, more than 4,000 bodies have been recovered.

The UN says 1.4 million people in the affected areas are in desperate need of food and help.

Darren Hanniffy, senior manager at GOAL is on the ground in Nepal – he says people there are still in shock.
