Tipperary householders could face hefty costs for burst pipes

Tipperary homeowners could be facing further hefty bills as Irish Water warns that faulty pipes will have to be identified within a year in order to qualify for free repairs.

Any leaks found after the year will have to be paid for by the property owners themselves.

The government has estimated that one in ten homes will require repairs to leaky pipes and have set aside 30 million euro to fund repairs.

However leaks outside of the house only will qualify for free repairs:
