36 home repossession cases are set to be heard before the courts in Clonmel today.
Figures from the County Register show that Tipperary has one of the highest levels of such cases in the country.
The details obtained by Tipperary Independent TD Seamus Healy show that on the 31st of December of last year 341 civil bills for repossession in the county were lodged by lenders in the courts here.
Of these 293 were still proceeding on Jan 1, 2015 – making Tipperary the 7th highest county in Ireland for such cases- and it’s believed the figure has now surpassed 300.
The stats from the Court Services also show that a total of 48 houses North and South were repossessed in 2014 and only 8 of them were “buy to let”
Today 36 more cases are before the courts in Clonmel at 10 am- as the South Tipp Circuit court is now dealing with all such matters from across the county- EBS, Permanent TSB, KBC Bank and AIB are among the financial institutions taking the proceedings.
