Unemployment levels in Tipperary have crept back up again.
New Live Register figures for the county show an extra 370 people joined the dole queues here in December – despite an overall decline nationally.
The worst hit areas last month were Nenagh, Thurles, Cashel, and Tipp Town but all Social Welfare offices recorded double digit increases.
These latest statistics-for the county- which are released a day after the national picture, are in stark contract to November's figures which showed unemployment levels dropped to a four year low with 200 fewer signing on..
Just a month later – in the run up to Christmas – an extra 370 people joined dole queues across the county.
Nenagh was the worst affected area overall – with 89 more people needing some form of unemployment assistance while Cashel accounted for the largest rise in South Tipp – a further 58 people are on the Live register there.
No area escaped though – with hefty increases in Roscrea, Thurles Cahir, Tipperary Town and Clonmel – and while Carrick on Suir recorded the lowest hike – 25 more people found themselves either out of work or on reduced hours last Month.
It brings the overall figure for the county to 15, 579.
