Overall, the Government clawed back €31.8 million in the second quarter of the year with over €250,000 from cases in the Premier County
Six of the 117 settlements made with the Revenue Commissioners exceed half a million Euro.
The largest case from Tipperary is that of Sean Crowe of Arravale Road in Tipperary Town who had a bill of over €71 thousand – when penalties and interest is added, the haulier paid €129,918 for under-declaring PAYE, PRSI, VAT and Income tax.
Kyran Colgan of Station Road in Dundum settled his case for under-declaration of VAT and paid just over €56,000.
Patrick Donehy, a farmer in Ardcroney, Nenagh made a settlement of €45,000 for the non-declaration of income tax while an engineering firm in Burncourt, Cahir – Purepipe Limited – paid a bill of close to €40,000for under-declaring PAYE and PRSI.
A retired shopkeeper from Nenagh, Gerard McInerney paid over€ 23,000 in penalties, determined by the Courts for under-declaring Capital Gains Tax.
There were two jail terms, one of which was suspended, handed down to Tipperary residents, one in Thurles and one in Nenagh for cigarette smuggling.
