Tipperary based community group concerned at Garda station closures

Concern has been expressed by a Tipperary based community group over the possible closure of more Garda Stations next year.

Addressing the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors annual conference, Justice Minister Alan Shatter said the additional closures will allow for more Gardai – who are office bound – to carry out frontline duties.

However Liam Kelly from Muintir na Tire is not convinced it’s a good move saying the closure of rural schools and post offices as a blow to the sustainability of rural Ireland.
