Templemore's Rachel Ryan and Kelly Delaney from Clonmel are among the 88 competitors flying out to LA ahead of Saturday's opening ceremony.
Overall 7,000 athletes from 177 countries are taking part.

Speaking on Tipp Today in February Rachel Ryan – who is doing a four year degree in sports Strength and Conditioning at LIT Thurles – said the Special Olympics meant the world to her.
