Tipperary sees increase in Burglaries since last year

The Tipperary Garda Division has recorded the biggest increase in burglaries in the country over the past 12 months.

CSO figures show 356 burglaries were reported in the Premier County – an increase of 59% on the previous year.

Nationally the figures increased by 9% with a total of 9,858 with 20 of the 28 Garda Divisions recording an increase in break-ins.

Winter is statistically found to be the highest season for increased rates of burglaries.

Tipperary Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant John McCormack advises everyone checks their alarm system and keeps a light on when they are not in their homes.
