Tipperary homes an businesses without power after Storm Darragh

A thousands of Tipperary homes and businesses are without power after Storm Darragh swept across the country overnight with winds of up to 140 kilometres per hour.

An orange level wind alert is finishing up around 10am but the public are advised to stay indoors for the next few hours, and avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary.

Dozens of outages have been reported across Tipperary with tens of thousands of customers without power.

Alongside this there are a number of downed trees across the county as well as debris on roads, with a section of the M8 covered in debris between junctions 10 and 11
