€23,000 has already been raised by A local club in aid of The Dillon Quirke Foundation , ahead of an event this weekend
The Raparee Cycle Club based in Dundrum will be doing 360 kilometers cycling through all 6 counties in Munster in one day.
The foundation was set up when Dillon who was only 24 died during a hurling match at Semple Stadium in 2022 from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.
They aim to raise awareness and prevent more young people from dying from SADS by offering free cardiac screening. Since launching in 2024, over 10,000 young people have been screened for cardiac issues.
Michael White, the treasurer of The Rapparee Cycle Club explains how to donate:
We launched it on idonate, which is out there, It’s live for everybody who would like to make a contribution all they have to do is Google Munster 360 cycle, two clicks and you’re in if you wish to make a small donation. We went to all the businesses around small and big. And to be fair, none of them said no to us. And I know they’ve probably given to this already. But when they’ve seen the effort, we’re putting in, they’ve all been so generous to us. It’s going great. We’ve over 23,000 raised to date.
