Thurles has been selected as one of only four locations in Europe for the roll-out of a new smart streetlights system.
The local authority applied for funding from Europe which will see 600 lights replaced around mid Tipp.
Over 400 are earmarked for the Thurles area and District Director Matt Short explains how it will work.
